Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Drive 2019 IS HERE!
NOVEMBER IS HERE!
Thanksgiving is only TWO weeks away and we would like to say THANK YOU to those of you who have donated thus far!
Our Thanksgiving and Christmas mission this year is to feed at least fifty families in the Triad area of North Carolina. We are so grateful to have been able to bless fifty beautiful families with a fully prepared meal for Thanksgiving AND Christmas last year! We are looking forward to doing the same this year, but we cannot do it without your help!
Today I would like to ask you all to consider donating to our Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Drive. It is not too late!! A $50 donation will feed a family of four a fully prepared meal. We are still working to reach our goal and any and every donation makes an impact!

BMW DRIVE FOR A CAUSE TEST DRIVE EVENT
Test Drives and Donations are Welcome!
While we are always seeking non-perishable food and financial donations to keep the food pantry stocked, we are asking for an even greater effort to help through the summer months - a time of year when we aren't typically focused on the needs of the hungry.
We live in an area of high food insecurity. In Forsyth County alone, nearly 17% of the population is food insecure and nearly 25% of children live in households that are food insecure. What is food insecurity?
- Food insecurity is a broad term that describes outright hunger and the coping mechanisms that households use to avoid hunger.
- Food insecurity is a household situation, not an individual situation.
- Food insecurity is a year-long measure. It is impossible to say whether a food insecure household is “hungry right now,” “going hungry tonight” or “does not know where their next meal is coming from.” Research shows that food insecurity tends to be episodic and often cyclical.
- Food insecurity does not mean that a household lacks access to grocery stores, lives in a “food desert,” or does not have time to shop/cook. It only refers to lack of food access based on financial and other resources.
Flow BMW is partnering with Rivers International in the Drive for a Cause Test Drive Event! If you test drive a new BMW at Flow BMW between June 18th and June 22nd, BMW will donate $20.00 for each test drive. Tell your friends and family. Bring a nonperishable food item when you come for your test drive!
Our goal is to have 500 test drives and to collect 10,000 pounds of food. It can only happen with your assistance! We thank you in advance for making a difference in so many lives!

Spectacular is our driving word this year! We want our efforts to be spectacular and we want the results to be spectacular! We have already secured two facilities to create working food pantries. Now they have to be filled to overflowing. Our goal for 2019 is to drive out hunger! To reach that goal, Rivers International intends to:
1. Develop sustaining partnerships with established and committed local organizations
2. Sponsor and cosponsor multiple food drives
3. Increase our name recognition in the county
